Scott MacGregor is an Irish-American who has been taking photographs of the Irish way of life and countryside for nearly 30 years. On his IrishPhotos.com website, Scott has assembled some of his very best photographs of the Emerald Isle displayed in all of its “terrible beauty”.
Ironically, today’s Ireland is a place of dynamic change both economically and socially on a scale that is truly historic. By stubbornly sticking to the windswept backroads of Ireland, Scott has inadvertently managed to preserve glimpses of an Irish world that has now changed irrevocably or in some cases, disappeared completely.
It has always been Scott’s mission to capture Ireland on film as a way to visually explain to fellow Irish-Americans the landscapes and coastlines that have nurtured such a beguiling and resilient race of people. The mission is Scott’s life long assignment.
Thousands of people have taken the journey by owning one or many of Scott’s photographs. His pictures have a very personal quality about them and always manage to bring a little piece of Ireland into homes and offices.
Several of these images have been published and displayed recently, along with one of his Ireland photographs that was accessioned into the permanent collection of the Cleveland Museum of Art.
Scott lives with his wife and children in their hometown of Lakewood, Ohio which is near Cleveland.
So, we invite you to sit down at the computer with a cup of tea (or Guinness) and take the long road home...to Ireland.
-Scott MacGregor
